Deputy Chief Executive, National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE)
Gillian Leng is the Deputy Chief Executive at NICE and the Chief Operating Officer for NHS Evidence – a new service within NICE to help professionals access appropriate evidence-based information. Previously she was the Implementation Director at NICE, and before that the Guidelines Programme Director. Gillian trained as a doctor and specialised in public health. She worked as a consultant in public health medicine at Bedfordshire Health Authority, with responsibility for clinical governance and implementing national service frameworks. Gillian is also an editor of the Cochrane Review Group on peripheral vascular diseases and an honorary senior lecturer at University College, London. Research interests include the evaluation of factors that promote guidance implementation and stimulate behaviour change.
